Messages from God's own Hand ( Dan. 5: 1-6 )
Daniel 5:1 Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.
Daniel 5:2 Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.
Daniel 5:3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.
Daniel 5:4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
Daniel 5:5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
Daniel 5:6 Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
intro: 3 places in the Bible God has written His Word by His own Hand. 3 Messages we must be aware of.
I. In Deut. 4:12-13 we see where He wrote to instruct, and reveal His requirements.
A - He wrote with His finger the 10 Commandments
1) to be more like a school master to us
2) a guideline to live by
B - He revealed what is expected of us
1) Things for us to avoid doing
2) Things that revealed our sins in our actions
C - The complete Bible, 66 books are to be our guide
D - The 10 Commandments are still infect today
1) They don't save
2) They reveal the heart
II. In John 8:6-8 Jesus wrote in the sand to let His words search the hearts
A - The words were like a mirror
1) He was letting the people realize that we all fail ( Ron 3:23 )
2) The writing in the sand show us that non are righteous except the writer
B - He wrote to reveal all deserve punishment
C - The writing humbles the proud
III. In Dan. 5:5 That writing on the wall, warns of judgement
A - Viewed from God
1) He knows the actions
2) He knows the heart
3) He knows our sincerity
4) He knows who really belong to Him
many on that final day will cry out but He will say "depart from Me, I never knew you"
B - It is appointed to all once to die
1) your works are recorded
2) we will all give account
3) Rom 6:23 "the wages of sin is death..."
C - We will have no excuse
1) Belshazzar had no excuse, nor will we
2) We have God's Word
3) We are hearing the Word preached
D - Pay Day is coming
1) The Love of God has provided salvation ( John 3:16 )
2) the witness of Spirit that the Holy Spirit gives reassures forgiveness
concl. His written Words instructs, searches and warns.
The day of the Lord is sure, final and soon.
