Psalm 37:6
"He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday."
Righteousness: the right, equity, just
Light: bright, clear, morning, sun
Justice: verdict, judgment, decree
Noonday: double light
This verse implies that one has been falsely accused. In
Matthew Henry's Commentary, he says the righteousness and
judgment of good people may, for a time be clouded either
by rebukes of Providence (see Job) or the malicious acts
of men who give others bad names, which they no way deserve.
When that happens God promises to "clear your name" and
restore your reputation. Not only will He bring the right
to light, He will bring it to double-light. Noonday in
this verse literally means double-light. God will, in His
time, show your right-standing with Him.
I think everyone is effected by false perceptions or is
falsely accused of something at some time in their lives.
As children we are often blamed for the actions of a sibling.
Sometimes we are set-up. Sometimes we are just in the wrong
place at the wrong time. If a teacher or an employer only
sees or hears part of the story, they may accuse the wrong
person. Sometimes deliberate lies are told about us by
someone who doesn't like us or wants to use us to get ahead.
Some years ago, we had a nextdoor neighbor was falsely accused of sexual misconduct
toward one of his thirdgrade students. It took years for him to
get his name cleared and be able to return to teaching. Even
though, legally, he was declared innocent, he is still perceived
to be guilty by some. Wrong perceptions are nearly impossible to
change. We can be most grateful that the only one that counts is
the perception that the LORD has of us. Romans 5:8 says
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us"
Because of the shed blood of Jesus, He sees us white as snow.
