Psalm 37:5

"Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him,
And He will bring it to pass."

Commit: literally to roll
Way: course of life, mode of action

To commit your way whether speaking of your whole course of life,
or an individual act would be to roll it off of yourself and onto
the LORD. Give your burdens, problems, decisions, cares, and
choices to the LORD. To commit them to God, first means you have
to unload them from yourself. You cannot commit to God something
that you are hanging on to. There can be no strings attached, apron
strings or otherwise. If you only commit part of something to the
LORD, He cannot take it. You have to let go.

A good starting point in learning to commit is to "roll" some small
matter over to Him and watch how He handles it.

In the Summer of 1972, when Papa and I were very new Christians, our
Church was offering a Spiritual Growth class that would meet on
Saturday nights, for several weeks during the summer. With three small
Boys aged 8, 5, and 2 (or almost 9,6, & 3) we needed a baby sitter if we were
to attend. I could not find a baby sitter. Finally, I prayed, "LORD, if You
want us to go to those classes, You will have to provide a baby sitter".

The day of the first class arrived and we were meeting at church that morning
to carpool to another church for a softball game. It turned out one of the teenage
girls, Joy, that was riding with us, lived only about ½ block away from us. As we were
riding along she said, "By the way, if you ever need a baby sitter, I’m available".

WOW! I consider that my first answered prayer since I was saved. Joy sat that
night and all the other nights that we had class.

So I learned as a new Christian, I could trust Him. Keep in mind that if I had
not had a babysitter I would have been okay. I would have realized that the LORD
did not want us to attend those classes at that time. I had committed it, or rolled it
off of me and on to Him.

Those classes were really "Spiritual Growth" classes and we were very blessed to
be able to attend them as new Christians. We learned many things about committing
our way to Him.
If you commit your day to the LORD in the morning, realizing that He is in control
and things don’t go according to your agenda, there is no reason to be upset or throw a
hissy fit. God’s agenda was just different than yours that day. We have to TRUST Him,
have complete confidence in Him. He has a perfect plan for us and it is a good plan. Let
go and let Him get on with it.

He loves you with an everlasting love!
