Psalm 37 NKJV
Verse 3
Trust in the LORD, and do good
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness
---
Trust: have confidence in, be bold, secure, sure of
LORD: JEHOVAH, name of God, self-existent one, eternal
Good: benefit another, be better, be gracious, joyful, kind
Dwell: reside permanently, abide, remain,rest
Feed: graze, tend to a flock

Verse three contains a great promise.  Trust in the LORD and do good and be fed.  So how do we lay hold of this promise.  We have to trust, have confidence in, and be secure in our knowing.  Maybe be boldly sure of the LORD.  We trust Him and we know down deep in our "knower" that we can have complete confidence in Him.  Who is it that we can trust?  The LORD, JEHOVAH God, the self-existent one.  I like that term that I found in the Strong's Concordance.  Self-existent, not created, not dependent on anyone or anything other than Himself.  He is eternal, no beginning, no end.
So we trust ourselves to this eternal LORD.  But that is not the end of it.  It is only the first step.  We can't just sit there and expect to have a victorious life.  Trusting in God can give us salvation but to be able to dwell in the land and be fed, we need to do good.  Do the right thing, things that are obedient to God's principles, things that benefit others.  Things that are pleasing to God.  So we need to trust Him and do good.  Then we can dwell, permanently reside, in His land and being the Good Shepherd that He is, He will tend His flock and feed us.  I believe that means we can freely graze His land knowing that He will protect us and provide for us.  The LORD is ever faithful.

Let me share something that just happened one night.  We had just returned from our daughter-in-law, Sonya's funeral, Papa went to sit in his recliner and I went to the kitchen to start supper.  It was time for Papa's pills so I got them and a glass of water and took them to him.  When I walked into the living room I saw something on the floor that was not there when we first arrived home.  I asked Papa, "What's this?" and picked it up.  It was a cross-stitched bookmark that Sonya had made for him several years ago.  Somehow it had fallen out of our Family Bible and was on the floor.  The verse on it reads, "We shall be like HIM for we shall see HIM as HE is".  It is taken from I John 3:2, one of Papa's favorite verses.
We both really feel like God gave us this assurance that Sonya is seeing Him right now.  We had not seen that bookmark in a long time and to return from her funeral and the bookmark she made just appear out of nowhere is no coincidence.  Our Family Bible has never spit out a bookmark before.
As we trust in Him and follow Him, He provides all we need.  Papa and I needed that assurance and God gave it to us.
We can trust Him in all things and for all things.
