Psalm 37:16
"A little that a righteous man has Is better than the riches of many wicked."
Little - some, very few, small
Righteous - Just, lawful
Better - good, best, bountiful, fine
Riches - (comes from 2 different root words)
1) a part of, from or out of
2) wealth or noise, rumbling
A righteous man is one who is just and lawful because of the changed heart the LORD gave him at salvation. He is experiencing the best in this life even if he has only a little. His small amount of wealth is more bountiful than the abundant wealth of the wicked man.
The righteous man may have very few goods and a small amount of money but he has all the riches in Glory at his disposal. God supplies all his needs and blesses him with the true abundant life. The LORD gives us love, peace and joy just to name a few. No amount of money can by love peace or joy.
Often times the wealthiest people are the loneliest and the saddest. They are very hard to
satisfy, always craving more and more, bigger and better. The riches of many wicked people came out of rumbling. When rival gangs have a fight they call it a rumble, it is chaos and violence, and many lose their lives or are seriously injured. The wicked who rumbled to get their riches will lose their souls and spend eternity in Hell.
This verse mentions many wicked which reminded me of the verses in Matthew 7:13&14. (My paraphrase) Many take the wide road that leads to Destruction, but only a few travel the narrow road that leads to life.
Be sure you are traveling on the right road!
May the LORD bless you real good!
