Don't Be a CRIMP
Some definitions of crimp are:
To be an inhibiting or restraining on;
To have a hampering or obstructive effect on;
To check, restrain, or inhibit; To hinder;
To have a limiting or adverse effect on something or someone.
God has a plan for each of our lives.
John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"
Ephesians 2:10 "For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
Our Heavenly Father has given us the power to become His sons. His only begotten son is Jesus. He wants us to become like Jesus. To be a Christian is to be a little Christ, a disciple of Christ. He has ordained good works for us to do. We show our love for Him by obeying Him. We should be going along with His plan for our lives.
Sin can hinder, obstruct and limit His plan. When we sin we put a 'crimp' on Him, we limit what He is wanting to accomplish in us and through us.
Ephesians 4:29-32 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."
1 Thessalonians 5:19 "Quench not the Spirit."
The power that changes our lives is the power of the Holy Spirit, but He is a gentleman, He will not force us to do anything, we have to cooperate with Him and follow His leading.
I was following His leading the other day in my private prayer time and He led me to examine myself.
Psalm 139:23-24 " Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
What He showed me was I had put a definite CRIMP in His plans.
C - I had a critical attitude toward some of my fellow Christians.
R - I was rebelling against Him.
I - I was impatient with my fellow Christians.
M - My tongue was controlling me more than I was controlling it.
P - Pride, did I really think I knew better than others, better than Him?
These were the things that He pointed out in me. Are you ready to pray Psalm 139:23-24 and see if there is anything crimping God's work in your life.
