Chick-fil-A appreciation day
Chick-fil-A are these people for real?
Today, Aug.1,2012 was an appreciation day for the Chicken sandwich chain. I went to their store in West Nashville TN today. I did not really know what I would find happening in the store or in their parking lot. I knew they make a great sandwich, but that was not really what the appreciation was for.
This act was requested over the Internet and radio by former presidential candidate and former Governor of the state of ArkansasGov. Mike Huckabee, but why?
It seems the founder of the company believes in his religion and attempts to live accordingly. He believes in it enough that he has always run his business in a way he feels honors Jesus Christ. He has been ridiculed for years because his stores are closed on Sunday, the Christian’s day of rest. I understand he wants to give his employees the opportunity to attend the Church of their choice if they so chose. It is not a demand but an opportunity. Chick-fil-A does not discriminate in any way against customers. Everyone is welcomed and served with respect. Mr Cathy and his son are outspoken about their beliefs but do not require their employees to be. It seems Mr. Cathy made a statement defining his personal Biblical beliefs against same sex marriages. The Christian beliefs he stated are the normal and standard beliefs of Mr Cathy, Rev. Billy Graham, most all Evangelical Ministers and even President Obama less than 2 months ago ( before Mr Obama as he explained it, “his beliefs evolved to believe in same sex marriages”)
Mr Cathy and the Chick-fil-A stores are being accused of hate.
So what did I see on my visit to the West Nashville TN Chick-fil-A store? Happy people, a lot of happy people. People were friendly and polite, the counter line was about 35 to 45 minutes long and the car line was a double line that appears to circle the restaurant twice. I heard one woman say the time was worth it to show her support to a man living by Christian principles. Now be aware the temperature was in the mid 90’s and humid, but there were Chick-fil-A employees walking around offering cups of cold water to people waiting in line. I saw no protesters and the atmosphere was more like a church social or a family picnic where everyone is enduring the discomforts of the weather for the sake of fellowship and yes fellowship and joyful visiting in line waiting for their turn to order their food.. Some were there supporting the Christian principles and some to support the right to free speech that is being threatened by the assault on Mr Cathy and Chick-fil-A.
I worry when I hear statements from Government leaders that say a Christian is not welcome to operate his or her business just because he or she believes in what the Bible says. The mayor of Chicago said that Mr Cathy’s views and beliefs are not the same as Chicago’s views and that is why he is banning them from his city. Will he evict all Catholics and their Churches? Do the Evangelical Christians have no place in this major city? ( Matt.10:22 ) I am also told there are planned kiss-in demonstrations by the supporters of same sex marriage as a protest against Mr Cathy in his stores.(Isaiah 5:20-21 ) As a Christian and believer in the Bible, I believe that God instituted marriage as a partnership between a man and a woman.( Gen.2:23-24 ) This partnership was for companionship,( Gen.2:18 ) for reproducing ( Gen.1:27-28 )and caring for each other(Eph.5:24-25 ). I see marriage as God ordained, not government regulated.
So I ask myself, what in the world is going on? I look at society and see where men and women do not want to get married but instead they want to live unmarried in sin. Then I see this same-sex group that want to get married so they can sin and thereby cause the government to legalize it forcing us to share in their sin…… I agree completely with Mr Cathy’s remarks. If God judged Sodom and Gormorrah will He not judge this age?
Yes, America has an advantage over Sodom and Gormorrah. In Sodom and Gormorrah God could not find 10 righteous people. Surely America still has at least 10 Christians that believe in living a righteous life. PTL (Praise the Lord)
P.S.
I asked myself, why does the homosexual community say our speech is hate even when we quote the Bible directly. The Bible always instructs people to love each other but hate sin. Jesus loved sinners and died to pay for their sin.( Romans 5:8 ) I realize that no one likes to be informed they are wrong instead they will justify or someway redirect the fault or error. If they agree what we say is true, or if they believe what the Bible says is true, they stand condemned in their sins not from our speech.
There is hope for all Romans 6:23 and John 3:16
